Fresh brewed beer

Public Coast Brewing Co.

As one of the only true public coastlines in America, all 363 miles of the Oregon coast is free and open to everyone. Public Coast Brewing honors that welcoming spirit by making craft beer that’s both delicious and approachable. Our award-winning beers are seasonally inspired by fresh-picked ingredients from Public Coast Farm. Stop by our farmstand during summer hours, listen to live music and pick up some cold beer, blueberries and more.

At Public Coast Brewing, everyone is welcome. Kick back on our Cannon Beach patio with fire pits and games, watch beer being made in the brewery, enjoy juicy burgers and some of the best onion rings on the coast.  Public Coast Brewing is a proud partner of the Travel Oregon Forever program.

Ryan Snyder Public Coast Brewing Co. Owner

How it Started

So how did a kid who grew up in Palm Desert, with an obsession with an obscure British soccer team that’s matched only by his love of the Portland Timbers, come to open a brewery in Cannon Beach?  And then a farm?

Twenty-some years ago, Ryan Snyder was living in Las Vegas running taps in the back bar of Holy Cow Brewery for entrepreneur and Vegas legend Tom Wisner. The buzz of a brewery in action left an indelible mark and he decided one day he’d open his own.

Fast forward past meeting the “Girl from Cannon Beach,” joining the Martin Hospitality family business, a restaurant gig, a bartending gig, a wedding, some kids, some hotels (The coastal luxe Stephanie Inn), to finally opening Public Coast Brewing Co. Shortly thereafter, he and Stephanie launched Public Coast Farm at the Eastern foot of the Coast Range on Highway 26. With 15,000 blueberry bushes, buzzing bees, apple, plum, peach trees and more, the farm is the perfect fodder for the brewery’s food-friendly beers.

Will Leroux Brewmaster

BREWMASTER WILL LEROUX

Meet Will Leroux. Woodworker. Forager. Home farmer. Bearded (of course.) Trained as a chef, Will was eager to try out his home-brewing skills on a larger canvas and Public Coast Brewing gave him that chance. Will’s kitchen talent with flavors is a huge bonus; add the Public Coast Farm ingredients and Will now brews beers that are seasonal, original, classic and sometimes a little twisted.

Will and co-brewer Ben have received recognition for their craft, including an Oregon Beer Awards Gold Medal win for our ’67 Blonde Ale, another Gold for the Blonde at the World Beer Cup, and most recently an Oregon Beer Award Gold Medal for our Coconut Brown Ale.

Farm Manager

The Farm Team

Farm Manager Antonio Rios loves digging in to new projects, literally! An experienced landscaper and gardener, Antonio eagerly jumped into the adventure of running our culinary farm, Public Coast Farm. A typical day involves managing cold storage for Public Coast beer and blueberries, tending to newly planted hops and fruit trees and experimenting with all kinds of new veggies, herbs and more.  Antonio’s wife Lupita carefully tends to hundreds of heirloom tomato plants, experimental greens and peppers in the farm’s state-of-the-art greenhouse. The two Rios children have happily adapted to country living, helping with farm chores and tending to their chickens (though his daughter longs for a horse!)

Beekeeper

Beekeeper Emily Schmiedel

When Public Coast Farm owners Ryan and Stephanie Snyder wanted to add quality honey to their offerings, they turned to the best.  Ryan had long worked with Ben Jacobsen at Jacobsen Salt Co., featuring Ben’s chef-friendly salts at his coastal restaurants.  Expanding on this relationship, he joined Jacobsen Salt Co.’s Microlot Bee program.  Lead Beekeeper Emily Schmiedel now tends to the sunny hives with her apiary wizardry.  Buy Public Coast honey here.
